Community members passionate about Black history and culture or women's history and feminist thought can now apply to serve on advisory boards for two of the Toledo Lucas County Public Library’s signature collections: the Art Tatum African American Resource Center and the Steinem Sisters Collection.

“The Toledo Library is home to two signature collections named in recognition of famous Toledoans who have made their mark both here at home and on the international stage: Art Tatum and Gloria Steinem,” said Toledo Library Executive Director Jason Kucsma. “Serving on these advisory boards is an opportunity for community members to support the work the Library does to make these collections available to the public.”

Each advisory board is composed of volunteers who provide support, guidance and advice to the specialist librarians for each collection. Board members also serve as ambassadors for each collection’s materials, programs and initiatives.

The advisory boards meet four to six times per year to promote the collections, plan events and foster community. Board member applications are accepted on a rolling basis.
