The Docks

You’ve viewed the masterpieces at the Museum, became a little zealous at the Zoo, and even checked out the craziness of COSI. With all this excitement, it’s time to tantalize your tummy! A quick jaunt across the river to Toledo’s east side, and you’ll find the Docks — with spectacular views of the city and outdoor seating along the starboard side of the Maumee River.

The Docks has been Toledo’s place to be and be seen since 1996, and offers an eclectic array of cuisine from which to choose. But choose wisely, for every restaurant at the Docks is first-rate, and has a personal atmosphere which exudes an attitude all its own. Venues at the Docks include: Gumbo’s Bayou Grille, Zia’s Italian, Tango’s Mexican Cantina, Real Seafood Company, Navy Bistro and Eileen’s Wine Bar.

The names say it all but why judge a book by its cover? Gumbo’s Cajun menu features ingredients as unusual as alligator to the all so familiar... gumbo! Gumbo’s is also host to one of Toledo’s premier night time venues, Club Sin. Make sure you stop in on a Saturday night to partake in an exciting night out featuring the hottest DJ in town.

If you’re looking for a little taste of Italy in Toledo, then you’ll want to cozy up to a table at Zia’s. It’s warm, European charm and succulent dishes are sure to please all. Zia’s offers an extensive menu and a great selection of wine. Try the house Cabernet or Merlot... one glass will make you feel warm and fuzzy.

Tango’s is not only known for its fabulous mexican cuisine, it also boasts a 50-foot bar with an enormous selection of tequila! Menu items are easily converted for the vegetarian which makes Tango’s a great option for earth-friendly beings or picky eaters. Don’t forget to try the house margarita, a favorite amongst the locals.

What do the coasts of New England, the Great Lakes and the Gulf of Mexico have in common? The Real Seafood Company of course! Fresh catches of the day are served up simply surrounded by an atmosphere refreshing as the food. Blackened, broiled, grilled, fried, shanghai... you’ll find it here.

If you’re craving a taste of each from all of the above, then Navy Bistro is where you should indulge. Their extensive menu includes dishes from all reaches of the globe as well as classic American cuisine. After dinner, head to Eileen’s Wine Bar located off the foyer of the Bistro for a nightcap. But Eileen’s isn’t just for after dinner. It’s a great place to try a flight of wine, or meet with friends over a martini.

The Docks is located east of downtown Toledo in International Park along the Maumee River. All venues are open for lunch and stay open till 11 PM weekdays, 2 PM weekends.
